Taking out the outboard leading edges reduces the length by about 3' (or so) - much needed length savings.
- Remove the pin holding the wing tip to the end of the leading edge
- Remove the pin holding the outboard l/e to the inboard l/e
- Remove the screw holding the concentric ring
Be sure to return all pins to the tubes right away so you know where they go upon reassembly. I've marked all my holes so you know what goes where and I've even put circles around holes (with a Sharpie) that the head of the pin goes at or marked it with an "H" (head) so there is no confusion as to which way the pin goes.
I find myself anxious to get the glider back together when I arrive as I'm itchin' to fly and this helps to not make any errors in reassembly.
I even mark my Right Wing & Left Wing just to be sure! With all the gabbin' and catchin' up with pilots you do when you get there, it's easy to mix even this up on reassembly....it's easy enough to realize you made the mistake but making that mistake just wastes time.
