21 seconds...
I continue to have GPS troubles. My primary GPS won't download properly. (it did work fine one day) I've been using my Garmin 12 for scoring, but I have the problem of a 13 second penalty due to it's inaccurate clock. So - I've been borrowing another back up GPS.
Davis loaned me a GPS which worked fine for a track log, but it was either lost or stolen. After "loosing" Davis' GPS, I borrowed a 76S from Kim the tug pilot. Downloaded Kim's track log from the 76S last night, and guess what? It was bad ??? :( When my Garmin 12 log was downloaded this morning, the track showed me loosing to Glen by 11 seconds even though I crossed the line first.
Davis downloaded Kim's GPS track log again on his computer, and BAM it worked. Now it showed the correct time of winning by 10 seconds over Glen.
A difference of 21 seconds between the two GPS units.
I've been trying to do what I can to ensure I'm getting accurate timing. I've never had trouble with my primary GPS. I find it funny that Kim's GPS log wouldn't work the first time it was downloaded, but did the second. Hardware issues? I seem to be the only one with these problems.
On to the spot landing contest...
About a dozen of us got motivated for a spot landing contest this morning. We had 15mph winds, so I probably had an advantage due to the practice I get at The Point. I came into ground effect with 3/4 VG. Saw that I would overshoot, so I ballooned up and snatched the VG off. Came back into ground effect and hovered down three feet beyond the spot. It would be good enough to win and put $100 in my pocket for gas. Dustin was second and Eric Donaldson from Tennessee third.
On to the task.
They've called a 56 mile lightning bolt task today due to the stiff breeze. Dustin doesn't feel it's a long enough task to bridge the distance to Glen. I'm 35 points behind Glen. Just like always, when my feet leave the ground, I'll do my best and see where things sort out.
