Lisa Tate wants the US Nationals at King MountainSubmitted by Davis Straubâ on Mon, 10/20/2008 - 19:24Lisa Tate wants the US Nationals at King Mountainhttp://ozreport.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13566 It looks like the USHPA President, Lisa Tate, has put in a proposal for a Nationals at King Mountain. We're still checking with the USHPA to see if her name is on the document. First, the King Mtn. meet is not even sanctioned, and never has been. Second, the last time we had a National there, a pilot died due to the conditions in the air. Do you want the US Nationals at Big Spring in 2009?Submitted by Davis Straubâ on Fri, 10/17/2008 - 15:02Do you want the US Nationals at Big Spring in 2009?This coming week the USHPA Competition Committee will receive a proposal/bid/package for the US Nationals in Big Spring, Texas for 2009. How do you want your Regional Director to vote on that? If you are a competition pilot, or a pilot new to competition who wants to go and fly at the best hang gliding spot in the US, you would do yourself a favor and contact your Regional Director who will be voting this coming weekend on this issue. US Nat'ls - Bishop - Day 7 - Task - CanceledSubmitted by TimONeillâ on Sun, 09/21/2008 - 14:00Well, it's over. We had two great tasks and the Owens provided the beautiful scenery & excellent flying that it is renowned for. Unfortunately the winds were excessive at launch a few days and the winds aloft kept us on the ground on otherwise flyable days. The decisions to cancel that 5 days were well thought out and in the interest of safety. As Kevin Biernaki said, more than once, "we need to remember that this is only paragliding." I agree that we can't task 80 pilots to fly in obviously marginal conditions in the Owens.
